At 2.5 kilometers from the Rome Airport at Fiumicino, and at 20 km from the historic center of Rome, Hotel Cancelli Rossi is situated in a privileged location in relation to the main means of land and air transport servicing the Roman area, as well as being near to the Fiumicino port where you will find the traghetti that sail for Sardinia (Arbatax and Golfo Aranci). Easy to access from International Airport Leonardo da Vinci thanks to the very convenient private shuttle service offered by Cancelli Rossi, or by car, either by Autostrada A12 Rome as well as by the Grande Raccordo Anulare from A1, Rome - Firenze stretch and Rome - Naples stretch, or from A24 Rome - Teramo. The Hotel is at 600 meters from the station, from where the train that reaches downtown Rome-Termini in half an hour departs. Once here, you have a great variety of itineraries to chose from and you will be able to visit the many different places, museums and monuments of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
The old Rome of the Coliseum and the glorious events of Via dei Fori Imperiali, the baroque city of the Quirinale, via del Tritone and Piazza Navona, the city of popes in the Vatican or indulge in a shopping tour on via Condotti, via del Corso and via Margutta, without forgetting the gardens of Villa Borghese and Villa Pamphili.
Even Fiumicino has a history as old as Rome, indeed it used to be its port; it was built in the second century by Emperor Traian and to this day the dock can be seen at Lago di Traiano with a perfect hexagonal shape and capable of holding 200 ships.
The Museo delle Navi Romane at Fiumicino, near the Airport, is very interesting: many relics of cargo and fishing ships found in the archeological area during the building of the airport.
Not too far from the Hotel you will find the Necropoli dell’Isola Sacra, a cemetery from the first century BC, and at 10 km, the important archeological area of Ostia Antica. On almost 50 hectares, it holds historical evidence dating back to the 2nd century BC all the way to the 3rd century AD, notable among these is the Firestation from 90 AD, whose firemen were already working to extinguish the many fires, and the Theater dating from196 AD with a capacity of 4000 spectators. If you want to make an escapade to the sea, the beaches of Fiumicino are found along the Lungomare della Salute, at only a few kilometers from the hotel.
Arriving at the airport “Leonardo da Vinci” of Fiumicino, proceed towards the terminal for arrivals “C”; exit from the building and head towards the glass palazzo across from it (Emporio Armani), the stop for the shuttle direct to our hotel is here. Next to the Termini Station of Rome, take the train “Leonardo Express” direct at the airport and take the shuttle direct to the hotel as indicated in the point ‘by air’.
Following the highway Roma-Fiumicino, exit at Fiumicino, continue on via Arturo dell Oro, enter the circle, take via Alessandro Guidoni, after 300 m you arrive at piazza Umberto Nobile, exiting from the circle merge in via dell’Aeroporto di Fiumicino s.s. 296, continue on 600 m, exit on the right to Fiumicino Nord reaching via Portuense. After 700 m on the left, you reach the Hotel Mach 2 Rome-Airport.
